Missions Committee Calling

Processes and Principles

  • Anyone may submit a support request – and suggestions are encouraged
  • Missions will convene at least 3 current members to discuss/decide about a specific support initiative. Anyone from Missions may submit a voucher once committee agreement is reached.
  • Support is typically extended to one of three target groups:
    o Current Church attendee – may or may not be a member
    o Community member where a need has been raised
    o Organization doing work we support either locally, nationally, internationally, examples
    are:
    • World Kitchen – feeding refugees/war
      torn regions
    • Disaster Relief
    • Veteran Support
    • Global Missions – Shoe Box Ministry
    • Women’s Shelter
    • Homeless Initiatives
    • Food Pantries
    • Heifer Project
    • Chaplains, Prison Ministries
    • Service Animals
    • And more…
  • Missions keeps a record of aid provided and to whom that aid was given – this is CONFIDENTIAL information and not made available to the Church or other Committees; this provides a record to Missions Committee Members to ensure support is spread about and no one becomes reliant upon repeated help – though at Missions’ discretion a person may receive help more than once
  •  Support is paid to an entity to whom the support recipient is in debt – this could be a landlord, a utility, auto repair shop, medical institution, etc. This support is most often paid in a check to the entity or by credit card payment or in the form of a pre-paid debit card, e.g., Walmart card.
  • Support is generally capped at around $300 per recipient as Missions has determined this allows for good stewardship of funds; However, this is not a hard/fast requirement and at Missions’ discretion, and within budget constraints, the actual amount may be higher than $300.
